Andrew Dougherty Pilot No.5 Aces

This Ace design was filed for patent No. D11,979 on July 6th, 1880 by inventor Alfred J. Manning. The patent was registered on October 19th, 1880, and it was then assigned to two playing card companies Andrew Dougherty and the New York Consolidated Card Company which means that both companies had paid royalties for the rights to use this design. This presents a strong possibility that Eagle Card Company was a trade name or subsidiary of Andrew Dougherty or NYCCC.
