About this
site
Welcome to My Collection
I have been collecting Playing Card Memorabilia and other antiques sine 2015. My collection has over 300 decks of playing cards, and over 50 memorabilia. Research is an integral part of my collection, which is why I made this website. This website will showcase the items in my collection along with all of the information I am able to find about them. This information can include the item’s age, brand, condition, value, and any other significant findings. When browsing my collection, you can filter each page by several categories including Brand, Age, and Description.
Notes:
- Not all of the names of the decks that I provide are official names. If they are official, I will make note of that in the description.
- My values are biased but they are based on what I bought it for, how much time I spent researching it, other prices I found online, and the items age and origin. They are just suggestions. The value is of course subjective, and up to you.
- Not all of the items showcase here are for sale. If an item is for sale, there will be a link to an eBay listing on the page.
- If you notice that my information is incorrect, incomplete, or unsubstantiated, do not hesitate to contact me using the Contact Page.
- If you have more information on an item, or part of the database, do not hesitate to contact me using the Contact Page.
Welcome to My Database
Research is an integral part to my collection, and it’s only fair that I share this research with the world. This site contains a database on Playing Cards and Playing Card History. There is a page on the History of Tax Stamps on Playing Cards. Each major manufacturer and brand has their own page in the database. That page includes their History, General Information, and Tips for Research. Each major manufacturer and brand also has a page showcasing their standard Aces, Jokers, and Ad Cards with any information I have on them.
Notes:
- There is general information about the other types of items I collect, but not enough to make a database. That information can be found on it’s respective page.
- All of the information I get is summarized from the original source, which will be cited at the bottom of the page. The websites that I use the most are listed in the Helpful Links section of this page.
- If you notice that my information is incorrect, incomplete, or unsubstantiated, do not hesitate to contact me using the Contact Page.
- If you have more information on an item, or part of the database, do not hesitate to contact me using the Contact Page.
- All information taken from this site must be correctly cited.
Helpful Links:
These are the websites that I use constantly in my research. Information from these sites is summarized and cited in this site’s database, but their sites will always have more information. For your researching needs, I will list the sites that I use constantly in this section.
Playing Cards:
The World Of Playing Cards is a blog that has many pages about the broader topics of Playing Card History and Trivia. I’ve found the majority of their information to be accurate, but vague at times.
The World Web Playing Card Museum
The World Web Playing Card Museum is an archive of playing card decks and information from all over the world that has been around since 2000. They have way more detail than any other site I’ve seen, and I’ve found more helpful information on this site than I could ever imagine. However, the site is foreign and can be difficult to navigate at times. But as I always say, the most valuable information is the hardest to find!
The Forgotten People of Playing Cards
The Forgotten People of Playing Cards chronicles the history of many older playing card brands. Their articles are very in depth, and a lot of their information can be very hard to find. That’s probably why they’re called The Forgotten People of Playing Cards.
DXpo jokers is a catalog of the jokers of various brands. They do cover a lot of jokers, but they also seem to focus on the novelty of the joker. It also features links to many other joker catalog sites.
World of Paper Empires is a lot like The Forgotten People of Playing Cards, but it focuses more on the company than the people. They cover older companies from the 1800s, and have information on their locations and advertisements.
Stamps:
Peter Endebrock’s Playing Card Pages
Peter Enderbrock’s Playing Card Pages is another archive site focusing on European decks and Playing Card Tax Stamps from around the world. When I decided to collect Playing Card Tax Stamps, this site is where I started to learn about them because their information on stamps is very comprehensive. However, this site is also foreign, and therefore difficult to navigate at times.
Eric Jackson Revenue Stamps is an online marketplace for buying stamps, and they have the biggest catalog I’ve seen online. I bought most of my Playing Card Stamps from them, and all of their listings have very detailed pictures. They also sell other antique paper products like postcards and advertising. However, those pictures may not be there forever because it is a marketplace.
